2017 Accent Introduces a Value Edition

Hyundai recently announced a #2017ValueEditionAccent that’s loaded with features. At just $16,450, the Value Edition costs just $705 more than the base model Accent. It’s small on the outside but has lots of room on the inside. The Value Edition also includes steering wheel mounted audio controls, Bluetooth and a sliding armrest storage box.

Under the Hood
The Accent is powered by an all-aluminum, 1.6-liter four-cylinder Gamma engine that delivers 137 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque. The Gamma uses several advanced technologies such as Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI and Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT). The Gamma engine features a maintenance-free silent roller timing-chain that increases reliability and reduces lifetime operation costs. You have a choice of a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. The EPA-estimated fuel rating with the manual transmission is 27 city, 37 highway, and 31 combined mpg.

Interior Features
The Accent is a compact with 103 cubic-feet of inside space. The hatchback has 111 cubic-feet. The five-door also offers more cargo behind the rear seats than a Honda Fit. There are lots of clever storage spaces throughout the cabin. These include large bottle holders in the front doors and a storage tray under the center console. An optional sliding armrest gives you even more storage options. The Accent’s rear seats split 60/40 and fold for increased cargo flexibility.

Safety Features
Standard passive safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control (TCS), and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM). These features provide handling assistance in slippery conditions and during emergency maneuvers. The system also delivers counter-steering when required to help the driver keep the vehicle under control. If an accident does occur, six airbags provide protection for the occupants. Two front airbags, as well as driver and passenger side and curtain airbags, protect both front and rear passengers. The Accent’s standard front-seat active head restraints automatically reduce the space between a front occupant’s head and the restraint during certain rear collisions, helping to prevent whiplash.
