2017 Hyundai Elantra Eco Review

Thursday, September 29th, 2016

Hyundai Elantra eco

Hyundai has a new Elantra for 2017, the Elantra Eco.  Boasting a 40 mpg EPA highway rating, we had to see for ourselves if the Eco had the goods! In the first two fill-ups of the new car, Car and Driver reviewers calculated 42 and then 43 mpg. Impressed, the Eco was pitted against a regular Elantra Limited on a mixture of highways, curvy back roads and city streets. The Eco rated 42 mpg in this exercise, for a 6-mpg margin of victory. When all the Elantra Eco’s miles over the course of our testing were totaled, the test actually beat The Eco’s EPA combined rating of 35 by 3 mpg.

The Eco’s economical prowess is derived mainly from its 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It makes just 128 horsepower—19 less than the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter in other Elantras—but it remedies that deficiency with an extra 24 pound-feet of torque. It’s enough to make the Eco half a second quicker to 60 mph than other Elantras, a welcome win-win that may better justify the upcharge than any projected savings at the gas pump.

Another major mechanical difference between the Eco and the rest of the Elantra lineup is its seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, a change from the conventional six-speed automatic transmission.

Overall, Car and Driver notes the Eco feels solid.  The cabin is quiet, thanks to the turbochargers extra muffling effect, it handles with composure and is handsomely styled.

Take the 2017 Elantra Eco for a drive at CardinaleWay Hyundai today!  We’re here to provide you with the best service, whether you’re looking for a new or pre-owned vehicle, or need expert service on your current ride.

Hyundai and Google Partner

Wednesday, September 28th, 2016

Hyundai

If you remember The Jetsons, you probably thought the idea of flying or self-driving cars was pretty far fetched.  Well not anymore.  Although the flying car is not on the near term horizon, the self-driving car is.  And that market is set to get very big, very fast!  Hyundai is looking for a little help from their friends in the the development of autonomous driving tech and it looks like they may have found one.

Hyundai is now in discussions with Google regarding areas where both companies’ interests and expertise overlap. As a first step, Google and Hyundai have partnered,  together putting Android Auto support into its vehicles, basically covering the lineup in terms of availability in new models. What might these two partner on in the future?  Beyond infotainment, self-driving tech is a clear candidate!

Word on the street indicates there’s been some exchange on the subject between the two companies already: Google hired Hyundai U.S. CEO John Krafcik in 2015 to take the lead on its self-driving car project. Google sought out Krafcik because of his legacy car industry know how, but if it’s looking for deeper car industry expertise to add to its autonomous driving tech experiments, a qualified partnership with an OEM like Hyundai could be an even bigger help.

Further collaboration between Hyundai and Google doesn’t necessarily mean self-driving cars, but the advent of robotic vehicles will change the face of the industry.  Looks like Hyundai is thinking ahead. Smart!

Until Hyundai builds a self-driving vehicle, visit CardinaleWay Hyundai to test drive a Hyundai the old fashioned way!

A Luxurious Future For Hyundai’s Genesis

Monday, September 26th, 2016

Hyundai Genesis

Genesis is thinking luxuriously big!  Parent company Hyundai spent a long time considering a launch into the luxury car field before it authorized the creation of a stand-alone luxury brand.  With a well crafted product, service and marketing plan in place, Genesis is positioned to take on well-known German luxury carmakers. The 2017 G90 will go head to head with the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S Class offerings and the G80 will take on BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E Class vehicles. In 2018, the G70, a compact luxury option that will rival the BMW 3 series, will hit the market.

Hyundai introduced the Hyundai Genesis full-size sedan in 2008 in the United States.  Hyundai’s decision to proceed full speed ahead in the luxury vehicle arena was announced in November at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. And they haven’t looked back. By 2021, Genesis will offer six vehicles on three dedicated platforms.

The company’s marketing strategy is targeting new luxury, Echo-boomer customers. And Genesis has secured key sponsorship spots with the NFL and PGA.  Quality and awareness have improved to the level that Hyundai vehicles are nearing their Japanese rivals in price. And the Hyundai Genesis and Equus have shown that customers will buy luxury cars from the Korean automaker.

Ready to up your car driving experience and own a luxury vehicle?  Now would be a great time to take advantage of year end clearance deals on Hyundai’s Genesis 2016 models at CardinaleWay Hyundai.  While you’re there, ask about 2017 Genesis G90 and G80s.

Hyundai Creating Eco-Vehicle

Thursday, September 15th, 2016

Hyundai 1 Hyundai Shows Dedication to its Customers

Hyundai is currently in the process of creating a hybrid, plug in electric and hydrogen fuel-cell cars. Hyundai hopes these vehicles will compete with the Toyota Prius. The Hyundai Ioniq has yet to appear in dealerships, but some of the models are expected to appear before the end of 2016.

Eco-friendly vehicles have been known to do well in California. Hyundai believes if their new eco-friendly vehicle can make it in California, it can make it anywhere else. They believe that incentives won’t draw consumers in California because it is a sophisticated market. Other companies like Tesla are based in California.

The Ioniq will be available in three different platforms. These platforms include a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and an all-electric. The hybrid model will be on sale beginning in 2016. The all-electric version will be available in California before the end of 2016. The plug-in hybrid edition isn’t expected to arrive until 2017.

Hyundai is constantly producing quality vehicles that their consumers love. Vehicles like the all new Hyundai Ioniq will be a great new option for drivers looking for an eco-friendly car. If you would like to check out a new Hyundai, come visit us at Hyundai of Corona. To view our current inventory, take a look at our website.

Hyundai Partners With Amazon

Wednesday, September 14th, 2016

hyundai elantra

Hyundai has partnered with Amazon to allow customers to order test drives of the Hyundai Elantra off of the Amazon website. The program is called “Prime Now. Drive Now.” and is part of Amazon’s same-day delivery service. People can schedule a test drive before arriving at their dealership.

Potential buyers were able to schedule a 45 minute to an hour test drive. A Hyundai expert would bring the 2017 Hyundai Elantra to a location like the customers work, home or coffee shop, and would be ready to answer any questions the customer might have. After the test drive, participants would be sent to their local Hyundai dealership to purchase their new car.

This program only ran for two weekends and was only available in Los Angeles and Orange county for the 2017 Hyundai Elantra. This is a great idea since car dealerships can get busy. Though this program was only available for a short amount of time, this initiative could inspire other dealerships to participate in something similar.

This partnership was a great way to get the word out about the all new Hyundai Elantra. If you are interested in viewing this new model and all of the other great cars we have to offer, visit Hyundai of Corona. Hyundai Finishing New i30 N

Monday, September 12th, 2016

hyundai logo 4

Hyundai is completing their i30 N. This vehicle is said to be right on track to compete with vehicles like the Ford Focus ST and the Volkswagen GTI. This model is the first vehicle developed by the N division. The N division is primarily focused on developing performance vehicles.

Hyundai released a short teaser that gives us an idea of what we should expect from their all new design. The vehicle is thoroughly disguised as to not reveal too many features, but you can see the muscular outline. The i30 N sports a model-specific grille and a deep front bumper. The styling of the i30 N will be translated into other designs of N division vehicles in the future.

The Hyundai i30 will be displayed at the Paris Auto Show in September. The i30 N will not be released until next year, and is expected to be shown at the Geneva Auto Show. Both vehicles are expected to be received well based on the positive responses from enthusiasts.

Hyundai’s latest development has pushed them to create innovative new technology that helps them create high quality vehicles. If you are interested in viewing the latest vehicles Hyundai has to offer, visit Hyundai of Corona. For more information about our inventory, check out our website.
