The 2019 Hyundai Sonata is offered in seven different trim levels, listed as SE, Eco, SEL, Sport, Limited, Sport 2.0T and Limited 2.0T. Additionally, there’s a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid that aren’t covered in this review.

Powering the SE, SEL, Sport and Limited trims is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 185 horsepower and 178 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Sport 2.0T and Limited 2.0T trims get a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder powerplant that generates an impressive 245 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, matched to an eight-speed automatic. Under the hood of the Eco trim is a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four that’s good for 178 hp and 195 lb.-ft. of torque, connected to a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
